Service-Oriented Architectures and Web Services

Course categorySemestre III

This module introduces the architectural principles and technologies underpinning modern distributed information systems, with a focus on Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and its evolution toward microservices. Students first situate service-based approaches within the broader context of enterprise information systems and IS urbanization, then study the core concepts, standards, and design principles of SOA and web services (SOAP and REST), before moving to the design, security, and implementation of microservices architectures. Through a hands-on group project, students design, build, secure, and deploy a microservices-based application, applying the principles and technologies covered in class.
